This project, sponsored by the Higher Education Academy and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), sought to help and encourage staff and educational developers (SEDs) to make more effective use of e-learning.

This was achieved by engaging in three key strands of activity.

The first involved conducting a scoping survey to identify:

  • e-learning resources that are currently used within the SED community
  • drivers that encourage the use of e-learning resources
  • barriers that discourage the use of e-learning resources
  • gaps in provision

The results of this survey were used to help develop an online Report/Guide offering guidance to SEDs on how to ise e-learning more effectively.

Secondly, the project commissioned the development of e-learning resources to address the most significant gaps in provision identified by the scoping survey. In addition, Case Studies on the effective use of e-learning within the SED community have also been developed

Thirdly, the project sought to establish a network of SEDs interested in sharing resources and promoting the guidelines, recommendations, and examples of good practice developed by this project, within their institutions and beyond. Currently this Network consists of 47 individuals from 33 Institutions. (See: Project Activities: Network for more details)

Note: Important news regarding the future of the Network can be found on the Latest News section of this website.

Note: This was a one-year project running from January 2006 to the end of December 2006
